William Abberton

William Abberton is a researcher for the Institute of Curiosities. His primary job is to travel around looking for artifacts, information or other sources of interest and investigate them, reporting back to the Institute with the results, or what he has found if the discovery is implausible for him to investigate or retrieve on his own.

Due to the nature of his job, William has a habit of stumbling over information of interest to other people. He isn't in the business of selling information, and often passes out things he uncovers to those who it affects or who he thinks may be interested, especially if it relates to potential or actual threats.

William prefers to give information to others and allow them to act on it rather than to take action directly, especially if action may result in or include combat or violence. William is trained in some formal restraint combat methods, but will avoid combat where he can. This is possibly due to an odd disability that people have noticed, as William is slower than most people to heal from injury, even when magically assisted.

William is friendly, but is also a quiet and private person. He doesn't shun conversation or social contact by any means, he simply seems to prefer encouraging others than to put himself at the centre of attention. He is occasionally noted to shy away from magical items or rituals, but doesn't seem particularly superstitious. He occasionally says that his job has taught him to step back and observe from a distance rather than interfere.

He died while using the last of his life force to power his gift and dealt a crippling blow to the Witch King, ensuring the Witch King's defeat.
