Fang

Bares-His-Fangs-Against-the-Shadow was a half-wolf, half-human raised among wolves on Union. He always sought to overcome his human short-comings and weaknesses by striving to be more wolflike in everything he did and emphasised his bestial nature over his human half.

When he was still young, he crossed paths with a creature of Darkness and Shadow and slew it before it could kill a helpless notary who happened to be passing through the same woods as Fang and his pack. Grievously wounded from the encounter, the notary took Fang to the nearest shelter and nursed him back to health, teaching him how to speak as he did. It turned out that the notary was a member of the order known as the Argent Dawn, though the notary himself was merely a clerk rather than a warrior. Recognising the traits of a true Knight of the Argent Dawn in Fang, the notary introduced him to the other members of the order, who then began to train him in combating the Darkness and its agents.

When he was old enough, Fang was confirmed as Knight and guardian of Union and granted use of one of the seven holy swords of the order.

Maintaining his strong ties to his animal family, Fang continued to strive to be more wolf than man in his approach to dealing with situations, and in so doing often brought a simple, direct but wise and considerate point of view to the table. When fighting alongside his brother Knights of the order, Fang would often be the voice of tempered consideration and was thought of as more the conscience and heart of the group.

No matter his bestial nature and approach, Fang frequently displayed the core characteristics of honour, compassion and justice that the Knights upheld as their code of conduct, often putting himself in harm's way to defend others.

Fang was frequently introspective of how being half-human, half-beast meant he was part of two worlds, yet never truly lived in either and it was this that made him announce the idea of creating a homeland for all beastkin like himself. This idea quickly became reality as Magnus Kessler offered Fang and his fellow beastkin one of the islands he took under his control. Taking the word from the old tongue that meant "animal", Fang named the island Zoon.

Fang's struggles to unite the beastkin under a single banner frequently clashed with his duties as a paladin of the Argent Dawn. It was due to his duty that he resisted becoming the Alpha of Zoon. But he could not long deny his people the leadership they desired.

His tenure as Alpha of Zoon was short-lived however, as the battle against the Blighted forces of the Witch King came to a head and Fang found himself called to his duty to fight all agents of the Darkness. During that fateful few days, Fang acted in accordance with the tenets of his order and, taking pity on a young woman who even after being rescued from captivity was doomed to die by the virulent disease she had contracted, Fang drew upon the power of the Light and exchanged her fate for his.

The Light however did not allow Fang to perish immediately, for he still had one act left to do - to defeat the Witch King. And so, his body animated by the power of the Light and his will to realise his one last mission, Fang fought on, leading his brother Knights and their allies into the heart of the Blight and ultimately into the final confrontation with the Witch King, who had possessed the body of his brother Knight of Dust, Rashid.

The battle was brutal. But Fang would not relent, and with the help of his friends and allies he found himself facing the Witch King alone and enacted one final sacrifice. Expending the last of his life force and channeling the power of his faith in the Light, Fang banished the Witch King once and for all, freeing his brother Rashid of his dark influence.

In the end, Fang died like he lived - selflessly.
