Settler Lands

Southern Settler Lands

"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany" - Izzanbard Devlin, on Yogyakarta.

The settlers of the south used to cluster around their port of entry into the continent: Yogyakarta. They pressed up the rivers and opened up land around the port where tributary villages sprang up. All these settlements were run by The Merchants Council of Yogykarta. A group that was backed by trading houses from other continents. Some of these were government backed and some totally independent. But in their names they ruled this area, sold and distributed land to new Settlers and form the nearest thing this region has to a government.

Now however the area has been utterly razed to the ground, every last settler eradicated. The conflict with the Tribes, born from a view that the Tribes were clinging to an ineffectual and dangerous way of life, not to mention their savage beliefs, and the Tribes view that the Settlers were interlopers and dangerous to Frontier. The rising corruption reached a breaking point when rumours of weaponized Sepsis reached the ears of the Tribes and others. The only option, when faced with an existential threat of such magnitude, was complete annihilation. As many of those who were innocent were evacuated, and the area destroyed by fire.

The only place spared the flames was Fort Manatee, the last bastion of Settlers in the South.

Most settlers who escaped here originated from Salem so still follow the One True God and teachings of the Wissen.

Northern Settler Lands

Located in the North East of Frontier are the settled lands around Fort William. They are not a large area and have been, initially at least, negotiated with the tribes. The settlers here do not own land but work it for the good of all.

Fort William is mainly a trading post set up by the Guilds of Whitewater. It attempts to work with the Tribes but the previous actions of those in the South make this difficult.

Fort William itself protects the main core portal of Frontier, though its coastal location means it is a port as well. The fort has been attacked many times, mainly by Saurons, but it’s a tough place with hardy people and by working with the tribes has managed to survive.
