Commodore Benjamin Strathmore (Deceased, in spirit)

Benjamin Julian Strathmore was born 57 years ago, well before the merging of the Shards

For over 40 years he has been in the service of the Confederacy navy but has only recently been seen returning to the waters surrounding the Port Of Saints.

The only child of Julian Robert Strathmore and Christine Ann Daulton (or so he thought) has had his fair share of horrors throughout his life.

His mother died shortly after childbirth leaving his father who was a merchant captain to raise his son alone. 

Strathmore spent most of his time at sea where his father taught him how to read, write and most importantly for him was taught navigation and astronomical techniques.

At the age of 13 his fathers ship the Hilda Guard was boarded by pirates, as captain of the vessel Julian Strathmore was killed right in front of his son, Benjamin vowed revenge and managed to make his way to Port of Saints where he enlisted in the navy. After showing real promise at the academy as a surgeon he was posted to the Dauntless as the surgical assistant where he spent the next five years until he persuaded the Captain to promote him to navigator as he understood the heavens better than anyone else onboard.

At aged 19 he was the youngest officer onboard the ship and was resented for this but showed real promise and by the age of 25 had been promoted through the ranks to the rank of First Officer and was transferred to the Queen Fury.

Two years into her voyage the Queen Fury came under attack by three pirate vessels, the ship fought valiantly but the captain was killed by a stray musket round. Strathmore recognised the flag as being on the ship that had taken his father from him and gave chase.

The Queen Fury although taking on water and with half her crew either dead or injured tailed the three ships into a cove where a vicious battle was fought. Luckily for Strathmore he and the Queen Fury survived whilst he had managed to personally kill the captain of the flagship, the one man who had taken his father away.

Upon returning to the Port of Saints he was promoted to the rank of Captain and received the command of the Queen Fury. It was around this time that he met his then to be wife Alicia Von Mantis. He and Alicia rapidly fell in love and exactly 2 years after they had first met they were married. Strathmore then had to cut short his honey-moon and return to duty due to rising pirate activity.

When he returned home 7 months later, his wife was heavily pregnant with his daughter Karen. With the birth of his daughter Strathmore began to take up more land based jobs and spent some time teaching at the academy.

5 years later at the age of 34 he returned home from work one evening to find his wife and daughter killed by pirates (may again not be the complete truth) he quickly regained command of the Queen Fury and set out in a revenge quest. After sailing the seas for 6 long years he eventually returned home, tired from the constant questing and with no results he was surprised when the Governor awarded him the promotion to Commodore for serving with the Confederacy for so long.

For the past 14 years he has been mainly land based assisting in the administration of the Confederacy but after the colliding of the shards and with the Tsunami destroying most of the Confederacy fleet including the original Queen Fury, Strathmore has returned to active duty in order to serve those in need.

Although he is meant to remain a neutral party Strathmore has made ties with several members of the Seaborn Alliance by sharing their distaste for the Mari-ann Foundation and has recently been found to be a member of the Brotherhood of Souls and had his Brotherhood spirit awakened. 

Strathmore found out that he contains a fragment of Will Scarlet's soul within him, during the temporal incursions the dark brotherhood arrived on the scene. Strathmore entered into an honour dual with his alternate half. The outcome was destined but Strathmore fought to the best of his abilities. The Dark Will Scarlet inflicted two lethal blows to the commodore before returning to their world. Battered and bloodstained Strathmore was healed by those he now considers his companions.

Although Stubborn and Self-righteous Strathmore is unwaveringly loyal to those he trusts, and will gladly protect those around him at the cost to himself.

After a recent falling out with Governor Dishwater regarding social etiquette and the roll of an officer, he resigned his commission to the confederacy and has left Port of Saints, as a final request from Dishwater he was offered a position within the Port Rabel section of the confederacy which he accepting as to maintain his life at sea.

A recent encounter with a horror affected nightmare finally helped unlock the truth that Strathmore had hidden from himself for nearly thirty years. Ashamed of the lies he had told himself he is now unsure where he stands, his honour has been broken and he now looks to redeem himself in the eyes of those he holds closest to him.
